Iceland – Surf & Turf

We left our little house and drove the northern coast of Iceland today.  The views were majestic and the drops off sheer.  I had to keep my eyes on the road as the consequences would be fatal.  At one point we started the tunnels.  They were a little unnerving to me as they were a small single lane for two way traffic.  On the right side every couple hundred feet would be a small pull off.  These tunnels were miles long.  When I saw a car coming I would have to stuff our car as much into the pull off as I could to let the other car pass.  This was all done at 50km/hr, and no one was slowing down for me to learn how to best drive these tunnels.  The other interesting thing we did today was turf churches.  We went and visited one old time village (Glaumbaer Farm & Museum) that was all turf too.  They were dank and moist inside and pretty dark.  It would be a long winter having to stay in one for months.  I saw they tied bones to their feet as well for ice skates which was interesting.  To end the day we went to another waterfall, Reykjafoss.  It was beautiful and in the middle of a farmers field.

Mercy’s Take (10/11) – I woke up at 6:51a to read my bible and finished a video, then ate breakfast.  I read mommy’s letter and Hosanna and Mrs. Scot Briscoe’s.  They were beautiful.  We went to Grafarkirkja, then to Glaumber farm and museum which was cool.  Then we headed to ReykJafoss waterfall which was amazing.  We called the kids after that.  I went to bed at 9:30p.
