Today was our day for the famous golden circle route. Our first stop was the crevice filled with water between two tectonic plates. You can snorkel or scuba (down to 300ft) through the crevice. Mercy was too young for the adventure, and Jodi wanted nothing to do with the cold waters of Iceland. When we got there and saw a line of 100 people waiting for their turn to swim roughly the length of a football field, I was so happy we were not part of that adventure. We watched some people enjoy it and then we went next door to see a small waterfall.
Following those we got to see another beautiful waterfall. It was too tall and massive to run, but I got to discuss lines with Jodi. She humored me! Mercy loved going from stop to stop, checking out the next thing. We also got to walk through the land of sulfur geysers. The smelly steam was unique and with patience we got a video of one of the geysurs going off. We ended the day with a walk down to the bottom of a volcano crater. It had a small pool we were able to walk around and enjoy the pretty water.

Mercy’s Take (9/6) – We woke up at 6:44a. Mommy didn’t get up, but she went to bed at 4:30p and woke up at 7a. Mrs. Valentine’s and Grace’s letters were so fun to read. We went to the lobby and had some breakfast, then headed to drive the golden circle. We went to Thingvellir National Park and saw people scuba diving. We then drove 2mins and saw Oxararfos waterfall. Our next stop was the geysers geothermal area, and it was fantastic. We watched the geyser erupt. After we watched it erupt 3 times we headed to the Gulfoss waterfall that was 10 mins away, and it was beautiful. We drove 10 minutes to the Kerid Crater, which is an old volcano. We stopped at a store trying to find the wool market on a map, but did not know the store we were at was the wool market until after it closed. We are staying in a cabin tonight, and it is 6:30p. I forgot to tell you we clocked in to our hotel and then went to eat at Stracta Bistro inside a hotel. Then we came back to the cabin and talked.
