Have you ever made your plans and then found out that God had something else in mind? I was told about an amazing out of the way place in Northern California that we really needed to see, Fern Canyon. I did a little research, and it sounded perfect – camping on the beach, secluded canyon, no crowds… As we started our drive up California it started to rain. It rained for two straight days and is still raining. All that rain made it doubtful that we would be able to reach Fern Canyon, as the directions described several stream crossings on the drive there. I told my family that I was good with whatever God had in store, but it would be so nice to know right off if we would not be able to make it to the canyon. As the rain poured, we made the turn into the road which would lead to the back roads going to Fern Canyon. Within 100 feet the road was a foot under water. It was an answer to prayer that the whole family got to experience – we definitely couldn’t take the van down that road! Now I look forward to seeing what God has in store since Fern Canyon was not to be. The day was not a complete waste though, as Jodi found an organic ice cream parlor along our route which was very kid friendly – a carousel ride in the store! The kids loved it, not to mention my ice cream-loving wife!
