Jaffa is the place to go if you are looking to run away from the Lord (Jonah 1:3), ship cedars from Lebanon(2 Chronicles 2:16), raise someone from the dead (Acts 9:36-43), or see a vision (Acts 11:5). On the taxi ride to our hotel I was beginning to think I might have bitten off more than I could chew. All of the road signs in Jaffa were in Hebrew and no one we stopped while walking around town for directions could read our English maps. The city is small and soon I was able to navigate it easily (walking). I am still not sure I would fare so well driving in Jaffa though. Our “luxury” apartment was around the corner from a world famous bakery, established in 1859 and open 24/7. We had pizza from there and it was amazing. We walked all over the small city through the tight cobblestone streets, by the archeological diggings, along the water front, and around a statue of Jonah’s whale. The thing that stood out the most for us in Jaffa was all of the brides and cats. Both were everywhere we looked. Jaffa has such a pretty setting that it makes for beautiful wedding pictures and all of the feral cats agree!
