Games – LIGHTS OUT!

LIGHTS OUT! has become our game of the year for 2011. There is seldom a night that goes by without one of the kids pleading that our family play it. It is basically hide and seek in the dark. All you have to do is wait for the sun to go down. Then everyone scream “lights out” as you turn off all the lights in the house. Choose one person to be the counter and have everyone else go find a hiding place. Once the counter counts down to zero they scream “ready or not here I come.” Now that person gets to hunt for everyone else. Once a person is touched they also join in the hunt for those still hiding. This process never fails to bring riotous laughter as people are found and hunters are often surprised. Once everyone is found, the first person touched becomes the counter and everyone sets up for round two. You will be amazed at the places your kids will be able to hide. Since it is dark, any place makes a great hiding place and one of my favorites is laying on the couch. Be forewarned, do not be surprised if your kids do not want the game to end!
