Washington:Spokane – Fun & Friends

How much does your wagon carry?

We left Vantage and drove to Spokane to visit with old friends. Chuck and Kathleen were the best of hosts and opened their house to our family. What a blessing it was to be out of the rain and in a nice warm home. We even got the chance to catch up on the kid’s naps and laundry. In Spokane we visited the Riverfront Park. The kids loved the Radio Flyer Red Wagon, which was ten times the size of our van with a slide down the handle. I loved the waterfalls through the park which were raging with high water. Everyone loved the carousel, which was hand carved and super fast.

New Friends

While in Spokane we got the wonderful opportunity to see God moving. Our family loves Trader Joe’s grocery stores and do most of our shopping in them. We have been able to hit a Trader Joe’s every week or so to restock on this trip. Our family usually stands out a bit in the store as one does not typically find large families grocery shopping these days, and we are the only family we have ever noticed fill up two grocery carts full of yummy goodness. From what we have observed most Trader Joe’s shoppers are alone and purchasing only enough items that they could carry. At the Trader Joe’s in Spokane we were spotted by a lady who thought we might be associated with the huge van plastered with stickers and kayaks that was parked out front. She wrote down our website from the stickers on the van and then looked us up once she got to a computer at her sister’s home. Then she posted a comment on our website which we replied to. We could tell that God was working and wanted to make sure we were available. The outcome of our interaction was that our family was invited to spend a delightful evening playing at Darren and Julie’s home with their four awesome children. Another wonderful treat was Julie invited her parents and sister’s family to join us. We had a great time in fellowship and the kids got to ride go-carts, swing on rope swings, sled down hills, and play games. God is so cool, and we love to see Him working. It was such a blessing to meet a new fun family and share a little bit of life with them. Thanks Darren and Julie and the whole family for the wonderful hospitality. Not many total strangers are willing to open their homes as you did, and it was a pleasure to spend the evening with you all!

Hi Brian, Jodi, and the gang, Sounds like your trip has been going well despite the small “disappointments “along the way! That’s all part of the experience and the adventure though! Enjoy!

Jim, I sure wish you were with us on this segment of the trip. All the rivers are flowing and there are tons of creeks and canyons to boat, but I need a safety!

That is fun Julie. Our kids have also been asking to play with your fun family again!!! Maybe one day our paths can cross and we can share an adventure together. Be sure to look us up when you come to the southwest again. Blessings.

I would love to hit some of the creeks with you, if I can remember how to roll. However, those falls look BIG!
